Good evening! Here is today’s Nigeria news summary.

1. Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari, has once again assured Nigerians that the country will surely regain its lost glory.

Mrs. Buhari, who is currently in the United State of America with the President for the 71st United Nations, UN General Assembly gave this message of hope via official twitter handle @aishambuhari on Wednesday.

2. The House of Representatives has resolved to carry out an investigation into the alleged insertions into the 2016 budget by some of its members.

This resolution followed a point of order brought under Matters of Privilege by the Chairman, House Committee on Rules and Business, Rep. Emmanuel Oker-Jev, a lawmaker from Benue State.

3. The Nigerian Senate has recommended the removal of some ministers from President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet and replace them with those who are competent enough to fight against the dwindling of the nation’s economy.

It said the nation’s economy will only bounce back to life if Buhari do away with some of his ‘incompetent’ ministers.

4. Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has disclosed that the Federal Government has commenced shortlisting candidates for the 500,000 jobs.

The Minister, who said the process for the recruitment has started, added that the payment of N5,000 conditional cash transfer promised by the government would begin before the end of the month.

5. No fewer than 200 of youths in Rundele Community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State have denounced their membership from the two cult groups in the Community.

The two cult groups who sonorously chanted their cult slangs surrendered one AK-47 rifle, several pieces of locally made guns, machetes, axes, live ammunition and charms to the Rivers State Amnesty Committee.

6. Three persons have been confirmed dead and 14 others missing after an 18-seater bus plunged into River Rijana on Kaduna-Abuja road. The Head of Operations, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, Salisus Galadunci said that the accident occurred around 11 pm on Tuesday.

7. A lawyer, identified as Blessing Nwalaocha has been killed by unknown gunmen at Alaoji, along Aba-Ikot Ekpene highway, Obingwa council area, Abia State.

The gunmen were said to have ambushed Nwalaocha, a staff of Abia State Ministry of Justice.

8. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has admitted that there’s no other God except the Almighty, Alpha and Omega who lives in heaven. According to the monarch, who spoke at an event in Abuja, he is a living example of what God can do as his journey to the highest Yoruba’s traditional throne is nobody’s making.

9. The troops of the Nigerian Army were involved in a gun duel with the Boko Haram insurgents at Mallam Fatori, Borno State.

The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said several of the insurgents were killed in the operation.

According to him, the troops were able to overpower the insurgents at Mallam Fatori during the operation which also involved the fighter jets of the Nigerian Air Force.

10. A popular spiritual leader and pro-Biafra activist, Prophet Anthony Nwoko has affirmed that the second coming of President Muhammadu Buhari into power would not bring any relief but more calamity and untold pains to Nigerians.

The cleric said no amount of ingenuity in financial and economic management would could bring out the nation from the current economic recession.
