Nigeria Election: What we will do on March 9 – PDP

Following the outcome of the presidential election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has revealed its strategy for upcoming governorship election in several states.

Francis Orogu, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa state said the party had told members to protect their votes to prevent manipulation.

He stressed that PDP would use every legal means to recover its mandate and make sure that it comes out victorious in the Governorship and State Assembly polls on March 9.

He said this while addressing a news conference in Akwanga, Akwanga Local Government Area of the state, shortly after holding meeting with party leaders and stakeholders from that zone.

According to Orogu, the party stakeholders have resolved to improve effort to attract more voters for its candidates and stop rigging in the March, 9 Governorship and state House of Assembly elections.

Orogu, who said PDP members would resist any illegality in the planned polls, warned members of rival parties and other electoral stakeholders to play politics according to the rules, to ensure free, fair and election.

“We came here to review what took place in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state and we discovered areas that we were shortchanged.

“Nevertheless, we have collectively agreed to improve on our outing on March

“The story of electoral irregularities will not be the same again on March 9. The difference between what happened in the last election and the upcoming one is that, there will be no room for manipulation.

“The party would use every legal means to recover its mandate and make sure that PDP comes out victorious in the Governorship and State Assembly polls on March 9.

“In the Southern zone, this situation happened before and we recovered our mandate and this election will not be an exception. We were robbed by the cancellation of votes from over 120 polling units.

“Therefore, we call on INEC and security officials to do the needful in the next election while we pursue our cases, legitimately, in the court of law to recover our mandate.

“Having known our strength, we are confident that we have everything it takes to win the governorship election. We will put every other thing behind us to make sure we win this election. We have become wiser and we will improve our performance on March 9,” he said.

He called on supporters of the party not to be discouraged by the party’s recent outing but be optimistic for a better performance in the forthcoming Governorship and State Assembly elections.

“We have a good chance to win the next election and we will do our best to cement our relationship with those that matter before the election day,” he added.
