Nigeria election results: How Dino Melaye reacted after INEC declared him winner of Kogi senatorial

Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye on Monday reacted as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declares him winner of Saturday’s election.
Melaye, who is flying the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated his close rival, Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He polled a total of 85, 395 votes to defeat his APC opponent who scored 66, 902 votes.
Kogi West Senatorial District which comprises seven LGAs namely Lokoja, Kogi/Koton Karfe, Kabba/Bunu Ijumu, Yagba East, Yagba West saw Dino winning 6 LGA’s out of 7.
Reacting in the early hours of Monday, Melaye thanked God for his victory during the polls.
In a tweet, the lawmaker also commended the people of his constituency for their support.
He wrote: “To God alone be the glory forever and ever. Amen. I have just been declared winner of the Kogi West Senatorial District Election.
“God only You would have done this. Kogi West I thank you all. I love you all. What a mighty God we serve.”
