Ondo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of allegedly disrupting the voting process across the state as well as engaging in vote buying.
Chairman of the party in the state, Clement Faboyede, who made the allegation while speaking with journalists at his Unit 5 and 6 at Igbara-Oke, in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state, described the development across the state as disheartening.
Faboyede accused the Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi of mobilizing thugs to snatch ballot papers and boxes at Ese-Odo area of the state.
“I have reports across the state that APC are going about with thugs snatching ballot box and papers.
“It even happened here in my unit, it took the combined efforts of the security agencies to chase them away.
“I was told that the Deputy Governor was moving around with thugs snatching boxes in Ese Odo just to take majority in the House of Assembly,” he said.
Also speaking, the Ondo Central Senator-Elect (PDP), Ayo Akinyelure, stated that APC is only showing act of desperation, adding the party is no longer popular in the state.
At his Iselu ward, unit 2 in Idanre Local Government, Akinyelure disclosed that the party unleashed thugs to disrupt the voting process in PDP zones.
However, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Gbenga Ale, who spoke at his unit in Owo, emphasized that the process has been peaceful, going by reports received from various parts of the state, adding that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has improved from previous elections.
Ale, however, denied allegations of vote buying in his polling unit.
