Nigerians on the social media have reacted to the claim by the All Progressives Congress, APC, that former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the just concluded general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is not a Nigerian.

The APC had yesterday filed a motion at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja stating that Atiku is not a Nigerian.

The Party in its petition filed by its lead counsel, Lateef Fagbemi faulted the candidacy of Atiku in the election, claiming that Atiku is a Cameroonian and not a Nigerian citizen.

APC, hence stated that the former Vice President’s petition against President Muhammadu Buhari, its own candidate, should be dismissed for lacking in merit.

Many Nigerians on Twitter condemned the claim by the ruling party, saying that it does not make sense.

Here are some reactions:

@tonyakabuno, “After so much time wasted by @OfficialAPCNg in replying to the strong petition of @atiku and @OfficialPDPNig, this is the response?

“This laughable response from APC’s legal team, confirms that the OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE provided by Atiku seems to have unsettled APC & Buhari.”

@NeduGodwin “The most important question is did he win?”

Judex_02464, “Nigeria is a joke and the President is the one eligible with no degree.”

@DMKpuluma, “Shameless people.”

@Charlescedars, “But he contested anyway, so answer the questions raised.”

@raphael_dare, “Abeg who even registered APC as a political party self.”

@toyinkush, “I hope your defence is not resting on this.”

@AbdulRa90422896, “”In the first place way did you alaw a foreigna to contest for president.”

@Oladipodz, “When apc start this Shugaba is a Nigeria type of politics then the party should be ready to loose a lot of followers.”

@ChigeruM, “Oh really, that’s why I said the country is Hausa Fulani country and not Nigeria. So you people know this and kept quiet, God will not save this country because we are the custodian of our problems. Disintegrate Nigeria now.”

@Samgee247Samuel, “So so desperate, they knew it wasn’t clearly won.”
