Nigeria election: Ben Bruce reacts as PDP’s Tambuwal, Bala Mohammed emerge winners in Bauchi, Sokoto

Ben Murray-Bruce, the Senator representing Bayelsa East has reacted to results of Bauchi and Sokoto States supplementary governorship elections.

DAILY POST reported that candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Sokoto State, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, was declared winner of the governorship election in the state.

Tambuwal won with a slim margin, after collation of results from 22 Local Governments Areas (LGAs), where supplementary election took place.

Governor Tambuwal polled 512,002 votes to defeat Ahmad Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who came close behind with 511,661, losing to his erstwhile principal with just 341votes.

Likewise, Bala Mohammed, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured 6,376 votes ahead of Mohammed Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who had 5,117 votes in the supplementary election held on Saturday.

Reacting, Bruce on his Twitter page, congratulated Tambuwal and Mohammed on their victories, despite all odds.

He wrote: “Congratulations to my good friend, Governor Aminu Tambuwal. Your successful re-election is proof that you have served well and thus earned another four years from the good people of Sokoto state. To God be the glory.

“Congratulations my brother Sen. Bala Mohammed, Governor-Elect, Bauchi State. You achieved this in the midst of intimidation and oppression.

“I am very proud of you. It’s a new day and renewed hope for the great people of Bauchi state.”
