Rep. Abdussamad Dasuki (PDP-Sokoto) has rejected the result of the election for Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency in Sokoto State.
Dasuki, who doubles as Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Navy, rejected the result at a news conference in Sokoto on Tuesday.
According to him, the conduct of Saturday’s election in his constituency was marred with irregularities and refusal to comply with the election guidelines. “It is obvious that the conduct of the election in Tambuwal and Kebbe local government areas was marred with quite number of irregularities,’’ the incumbent lawmaker alleged.
He said he was working with leaders of his party to take a stand on the irregularities that marred the exercise.
The lawmaker said it was clear he won the election by morning of Sunday, “but whatever magic the APC did to claim the victory will In-sha Allah be unravel very soon.
“PDP will definitely not allow its mandate to be stolen; we have not accepted the outcome of the result as we know that we have won the election”.
He appealed to PDP supporters in the constituency to continue to remain calm and law abiding but be prepared to come out en masse on March 9, to vote for Gov. Aminu Tambuwal.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Dasuki was defeated by Bala Kokani of APC who polled 48,503 votes against Dasuki’s 42,367 votes.
