Nigeria Decides: There is massive turnout in Kaduna

The ongoing Presidential and National Assembly elections in Kaduna state witnessed massive turn out of electorate.

Our reporter who monitored the situation reports that most electorate came out as early as 7:00 am in their large number, especially women and youths who spent hours on the queue waiting to vote for the candidates of their choice.

As at the time of filing this report, there is no issue of violence and thuggery in any part of the state but the exercise is going on as expected.

Although, there are reports of late arrival of election materials while in some polling units, the card reader failed in most places.

Former Vice President, Namadi Sambo alongside his wife, Hajiya Amina Namadi Sambo cast their votes at the ongoing presidential and National Assembly elections in his polling unit, Swimming Pool road, Police College, Kaduna.

In his remarks shortly after voting, Namadi Sambo commended Nigerians for coming out en-masse to exercise their civic rights peacefully.

“I am pleased with the turnout of people to vote, and I’m also happy with the borderline of the process. I pray that we have peaceful exercise,” he said.

Reports from Southern Kaduna also said there is massive turnout of electorate to exercise their civic responsibilities of electing candidates of their choice.

Though with late arrival of voting materials experienced in some polling units, there hasn’t been report of violence in the area.

Some of the electorates who shared their views appealed to INEC to ensure early distribution of election materials or in the alternative, extend the duration of the voting period to enable every eligible voter that turnout for election cast his or her vote.
