Nigeria Decides: Presidency makes new accusation against Afenifere, PANDEF over Atiku

The Presidency has accused some Afenifere leaders and Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) leaders of receiving bribe from the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s personal assistant on social media, Lauretta Onochie, on Thursday night alleged that Yinka Odumakin and Chief Ayo Adebanjo received large deposits into their banks accounts before their endorsement of Atiku.

South-South Leader, Edwin Clark was also fingered in the allegation.

Onochie disclosed this in a post on her Twitter page while calling on the leaders to provide the source of deposits in their accounts.

She wrote: “So, On 6th Dec. 2018, large deposits hit the accounts of Yinka Odumakin, Chief Ayo Adebanjo & Chief Edwin Clark simultaneously

“Was this a coincidence? What is the source of these lodgements? What followed afterwards was that Afenifere and PANDEF bowed to Atiku.”

Recall that Influential socio-cultural organisations including Afenifere, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Northern Elders Forum, Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and the Middle Belt Forum days ago endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The groups at the meeting themed ‘Summit of Nigerian Leaders and Elders’, the groups said they were endorsing Atiku because of his intelligence, capability and knowledge to lead Nigeria.

But, Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, had in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday described the endorsement by the socio-cultural groups as irrelevant.

He noted that the ‘gang up’ by these socio-cultural group will have no effect on Buhari being re-elected in Feb. 16, just like in 2015

Atiku will slug it out with President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other candidates in the February 16 presidential election.
