Nigeria decides: PDP wins Plateau North senate seat as INEC declares reps inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission has finally declared the result of the Plateau North senatorial district election.

This came five days after the presidential and national assembly elections were conducted.

The main opposition candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious as the Senator to represent Plateau North.

While that of the House of Representatives seat for Jos North/Bassa Constituency was declared inconclusive.

Declaring the results, Professor Christopher Vande, Coalition and Returning Officer for the Plateau North Senatorial District, said the APC candidate Rufus Bature got 171, 233 votes, while his PDP counterpart, Hon. Istifanus Gyang won with 269, 555 votes.

Also declaring that of the House of Representatives as aforementioned, the Collation and Returning Officer, Professor Francis Kwese, Maitala Haruna of the APC got 114, 705 votes, while Jonathan Dabo of the PDP polled 89, 262 PDP.

Kwese, however, declared the election inconclusive because Tudun Wada/Kabong Ward results were cancelled, hence, a rerun will be scheduled by INEC at a later date.
