Nigeria Decides: Jonathan suffers defeat in Gombe

President Goodluck Jonathan has been defeated in the Saturday’s presidential election held in Gombe State.

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, was declared winner after polling a total of 361,245 ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, who had a total of 96,873 votes.

Professor Saminu Abdulrahman Ibrahim of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, announced the results on Monday.

Prof. Ibrahim said that 1,110,105 were registered to vote in the election while 460,599 valid votes were recorded at the end of voting.

A total of 12,845 invalid votes were rejected
