President Goodluck Jonathan has appealed to Nigerians to wait patiently for the results of the presidential and National Assembly elections to be announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission just the way they waited patiently to vote.
The President made the appeal in a post on his Facebook page.
The appeal came against the background of anxiety that has gripped Nigerians as they await the result of the elections and the perceived slow collation process.
He urged Nigerians not to carry out acts that could lead to breakdown of law and order.
The President posted: “We waited patiently to vote in these elections, now I want to urge all Nigerians to also wait patiently for the Independent National Electoral Commission to collate and announce results.
“We must ensure that we do not get involved in acts that breach our peaceful co-existence that we patriotically demonstrated during the elections.
“May God bless Nigeria.”
