The former presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) Obiageli Ezekwesili has condemned the postponement of presidential and governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu on Saturday morning announced the shift of the 2019 presidential and governorship election by a week.
Mahmood attributed the postponement of all the scheduled elections to logistic and operational problems.
The decision by INEC to postpone the polls has been met with shock and scorn across the country.
Ezekwesili, reacting, lamented about the cost and consequences of the development on Nigerians, especially those who travelled to other states for the election.
She also made reference to viral pictures of NYSC members being abandoned by INEC at polling units.
The former minister on her Twitter page wrote: “The human cost of our not getting things right is what gets to me the most.
“Families with so little income incurring costs either to go vote or for safety.
“Pictures of our Youth Corp members in undignified state of being.Visitors from abroad shaking their heads at us.”
