The Speaker of Federal House of Reps Yakubu Dogara, has confirmed that INEC card reader failed to automatically authenticate him during process of accreditation.
He told reporters after thump printing on the voters register to enable him cast his vote.
Dogara added that even though such card reader problem may be peculiar in some parts of Nigeria, “You know I had a problem with the Card Reader, it couldn’t automatically authenticate me. So I had to thumbprint on the Voters Register, so that I can vote. So, that is one of the flaws I have noted, even though the process of authentication is repeated twice. But somehow, somehow, the Card Reader couldn’t accept my finger print. So, I had to thumbprint the Voters Register for me to vote. That is one of thing I have noticed,” said Dogara.
Dogara noted that this is just one Polling Unit and perhaps hundreds of thousands across Nigeria. So, if what is transpiring here is what is happening across Nigeria, I can say that this meets the standard of a democratic election.
He assured that the turnout will be impressive to clearly indicate a positive shift on Democratic development.
The speaker expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct of the election and predict victory for PDP in all ramifications.
