The candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Presidential election, Atiku Abubakar has won the election in Plateau State.
Abubakar polled 548, 655 votes to defeat the incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari, who got 468, 555 votes.
The final result was announced by the State’s Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Prof. Richard Amande.
However, despite cancellation of over 31, 000 votes in PDP stronghold in Jos North LGA, DAILY POST gathered that hoodlums tried to stop the electoral officials from announcing the results of the National Assembly, by insisting that the aforementioned figure canceled for the Presidential election, be done to that of the National Assembly.
It was also gathered that it took the intervention of security operatives to rescue the INEC officials at the Jos North Collation centre.
As of the time of filing this report, the Police Commissioner in the State, other security chiefs, INEC officials, party chieftains were in a closed-door meeting.
There is tension in Jos City, especially in the affected ward.
