The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Elements Progressive Party, Comrade Ishaka Paul Ofemile, has called on the federal government to as a matter of urgency sack chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, to prove its innocence over the postponement of the presidential and national assembly elections.
Addressing newsmen at the press center of the Zamfara State council of NUJ on Saturday, Ofemile noted that it was a planned game to ensure that APC wins the election by all means, saying that Nigerans were no longer fools.
“There is no reason reasonable enough by the INEC to fool over 170 million people in country, calling on the 73 political parties in the country to as well reject the postponement due to its nature and planned work,” he lamented.
Ofemile noted that he had come in contact with Professor Mahmood Yakubu in 2019 when he (Ofemile) was contesting for governorship election in Edo State.
According to him, the then INEC boss in the state held a meeting with all the stakeholders in Benin City, promising to conduct the election without any fear or favour but only to find out that the election had been postponed without any body’s knowledge to favour the federal might.
“I and my party have rejected the election and would never participate until professor Mahmood Yakubu is removed as the chairman of INEC in the country,” he averred.
“I am therefore urging all the registered political parties in the country to boycott the election rather than embarrassing the country.”
