All electoral materials for the Suleja local government area election on Saturday have been deployed.
Similarly, 3, 000 police personnel have been drafted for security during the polls which was postponed two weeks ago for security reasons.
The Public Relation Officer of the state electoral commission, Malam Muhammad Ali, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Suleja on Friday that the commission’s Chairman and permanent commissioners were on ground to ensure a successful election.
“We have deployed all necessary materials for the conduct of the election in Suleja tomorrow. All hands are on deck to ensure this.
“We still will not use the card reader machine in this election, since we did not use it in the ones conducted last two weeks,” he said.
Similarly, the Police command in Niger said that it has deployed a combined force to ensure a safe election and maintain peace before and after it.
Mr Bala Elkanah, the commands public relations officer, disclosed this during a chat with NAN in Minna.
“We are fully ready for Suleja LG polls. We have deployed 3, 000 personnel for the election tomorrow.
“The officers deployed are the conventional and special forces comprising the police mobile force, detectives and anti-bomb squad,” he said.
Elkanah said that the police have commenced stop-and-search in Suleja to ensure that weapons were not smuggled into the area. (NAN)
