National President of Niger Delta Youth Movement, NDYM, Mr Godwin Ikogho, has directed the members of the movement to work for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, the movement said the actualisation of Jonathan’s re-election “is a sacred mandate and obligation” of all the youth in the region.
The statement quoted the movement as saying that the achievements of Jonathan had contributed largely to the socio-economic development of the country.
The statement said the movement also commended the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for its effectiveness.
The statement, nonetheless, urged the National Assembly to promptly respond to the commission’s financial needs.
“This is to enable the commission to meet up with its inherited financial challenges in the region,” it quoted the movement as saying.
The statement said that the National Executive Council (NEC) of the movement had unanimously endorsed Ikogho as its president.
It added that his endorsement followed the death of the movement’s former President, Mr Ajulisan Akumagba.
“The NEC of NDYM has adopted a letter from the Delta Chapter of the movement replacing the late president with Ikogho, who will complete the term of the former president,” the statement noted. NAN
