The Special Adviser to the President on Amnesty, Mr Kingsley Kuku, has said that the Federal Government pardon for the Niger Delta militants will not end by 2015.

Kuku who stated this at a press briefing on Saturday, was reacting to the clamour by several groups demanding to be accommodated in the programme.

The presidential aide noted that the relative peace being enjoyed in the region was due to the amnesty programme which he described as successful.

He said government will take care of ex-militants whose training will elapse after the timeline for the scheme, adding that it was likely more militants will be accomodated if need be.

The amnesty programme was proclaimed on June 25, 2009, under the Umar Musa Yar’adua administration to co-ordinate the disarmament, demobilization, rehabilitation and provision of reintegration assistance to militants who gave up their arms.
