Council Chairman of Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State, Alhaji Saidu Kaboji, has vowed that any staff found to absent himself from work for no cogent reasons would have his salaries deducted.
Speaking with DAILY POST in Minna, he explained that the attitude of local government staff to work determines the level of productivity, noting that whoever continues to show truancy does that at his own peril.

Kaboji admonished that it was high time government employees at all levels begin to see government business as personal business with utmost commitment in order to show value for money.
“It is not going to be business as usual, as the local government staff owe the people of Mashegu and entire Niger state the duty to work for the salaries they are paid for.
“A situation where people come to work when they feel like and close at any time is totally unacceptable and will no longer be condoned.
He noted that the decision for sub-unit heads to start giving schedule of duty to each staff on a daily basis as part of efforts to checkmate this problem was to deepen what Niger state governor, Sani Bello has tasked all the Council areas to do in order to reposition the economy of the state.
Kaboji stressed that the Council will begin the construction of junior staff quarters to address accommodation challenges, even as arrangements have been concluded to work out modalities of scholarship to 122 indigent students studying in higher Institutions.
