Ngilari: FG suspends Adamawa Prison Controller, 2 other officers

The Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB) has suspended 3 senior Prisons officers, indicted for their complicity in the issuance of unauthorised medical report on Bala Ngilari, a former Governor of Adamawa State serving a 5-year-jail term in Yola prison.

This is contained in a statement by Prisons spokesman, DCP Francis Enobore.

The letter dated 3rd April, 2017 and signed by the Director / Secretary of the Board, Mr. Sunday Dan Ogu, FCAI approved the suspension of the officers pending the outcome of all necessary investigations into the matter.

Those suspended are CP Peter Yeni Tenkwa, DCP Abubakar Abaka and SP John Bukar

Peter Tenkwa is the Controller of the Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Prison Service.

He had disowned the medical letter upon which a Yola High Court granted bail to Bala Ngilari.

Tenkwa said the headquarters directed him to issue a query to officials involved in the matter, including the Deputy Controller of Yola Prison, Abubakar Abaka, and a Superintendent of Prisons, John Bukar, in charge of health.

Meanwhile, a new Controller and officer in-charge has been posted to take over the state command and Yola prison respectively, including a medical doctor to oversee the prison clinic. The officers have since resumed duties.
