The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has expressed its displeasure at Musa Muhammed’s disappearance, from the camp of the U-23 national team.
Muhammed, who is the captain of the U-20 side, left the Abuja camp without permission from coach Samson Siasia or any team official.
The defender is rumoured to be in Germany with his agent, attempting to seal a transfer to an unspecified club.
“It will be an understatement for me to say the Nigeria Football Federation is disappointed by the behavior of Musa Muhammed. This is someone who should be a role model for the Nigerian youth,” NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said.
“He is very good at what he does and we love him for that. But discipline is essential in any vocation and the NFF will no longer condone indiscipline on the part of any player or coach of any of the national teams.”
Sanusi also confirmed that Muhammed and anyone who aided his disappearance, will be punished severely by the NFF.
He added: “The player had been drafted to the U-23 team because the Coach believes he has something to contribute to bring glory to the nation. Whoever is found to be culpable in this shameful act will be punished.”
Siasia has since dropped Muhammed from his 18-man squad that travelled to Zambia for Sunday’s crunch game. .
