Spartak Moscow striker Emmanuel Emenike, may not feature in the Mandela Challenge on August 14, as his club have reportedly refused to release him for the game, claiming that it falls outside the FIFA window.
In response to their stance, the NFF secretary general Musa Amadu, has made it clear that the FIFA window starts on August 12 and closes on August 14 and as such, the powerful frontman must be allowed to travel for the game.
“The NFF will not accept any of such claims that it’s not a Fifa free window, and we have made our position known to the club officials,” Amadu told media.
“Don’t forget that the game is also a dress rehearsal for the September World Cup qualifier against the Flames of Malawi and we can’t afford to let anything to chance.”
Super Eagles players are expected to touch down in South Africa on August 11, ahead of the game against the Bafana Bafana in Durban.
