NFF says no going back on decision to sack Keshi’s assistants, despite Eagles coach plea

It has emerged that the Nigerian Football Federation’s executive committee, has turned down Stephen Keshi’s plea, for his sacked assistants to be reinstated.

Coaches Sylvanus Okpala and Valere, were sacked while Keshi was away in the US on a break, as the NFF embarked on downsizing members of their staff.

The Super Eagles boss made the appeal, during a meeting with the executive committee on Wednesday, but the NFF remained adamant, making it clear there was no going back on the matter.

“Keshi made an appeal with the NFF prsesident Aminu Maigari to recall his two sacked assistant coaches but the board looked at the financial implications and the conduct of the coaches and resolved that the sack,as it were was in order,” a NFF source told Complete Sports.

“We also looked at the downsing of backroom staff and agreed that it was in order and should be extended to other national teams and where possible the secretariat staff.

“The board also mandated the secretariat to energize its marketing and sponsorship departments to raise fund for the federation’s programmes.”
