NFF rejects N2million medical bill from injured Falcons player

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has rejected the medical bill brought before it by injured full-back, Gloria Ofoegbu.

Ofoegbu last week claimed the NFF has abandoned her after injury, but the federation has revealed that it turned down what was described as ‘outrageous’ N2 million bill.

“She brought N2 million medical bill signed by a private hospital, which to us, is outrageous,” an NFF official said.

“We decided to give her N500,000, but she refused. In the first place, it is team doctors that recommend to the NFF on steps to take concerning injury of players.

“In the case of Gloria Ofoegbu, our physiotherapist has just confirmed to us that the injury she is claiming has been there for the past five years. They carried out an MRI test on Ofoegbu, while she was playing for the U-20 team, and the doctor says it was an arthritis, which cannot be operated at this stage of her career. Some of these players lie so much on their age just to enable them feature for the junior team and that seems to be playing out now.

“But the physio has forwarded the medical report they carried out on Ofoegbu to the NFF and everything will soon come to the open,” the official said.
