The Nigeria Football Federation and the Nigeria Police (FCT Command) are looking into ways of achieving greater collaboration in the area of security for NFF events and programmes.
During a courtesy visit to the new Commissioner of Police (FCT Command), CP Mohammed Mustafa on Tuesday, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi underscored the importance of the Police to all events and activities of the football body.
“Security is a very key component in the organization of football, nay sporting events. Over the years, the NFF has received immense co-operation from the Police hierarchy for our events, including local and international matches. We are here to solicit for even greater collaboration with the FCT Command for our programmes and activities.
“We are happy about your deployment to the FCT Command, having heard so much about your keen interest in football and other sports. The NFF will do everything to sustain the cordial relationship we have had over the years with the FCT Command.”
Responding, CP Mohammed Mustafa thanked the NFF delegation, and pledged that the Police would continue to afford the football body of maximum security at all footballing events and programmes. He praised the NFF for embedding security within its internal workings in the Federation.
With Dr. Sanusi on the visit were Mr. Ademola Olajire (Director of Communications), Barr. Okey Obi (Assistant Director, Legal) and Dr. Christian Emeruwa (Integrity Officer/FIFA Security Officer).
CP Mustafa was joined by Deputy Commissioner of Police Ezechukwu (Administration), Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohammed Garba (Operations), Assistant Commissioner of Police Dantawiye Miller (Operations), Assistant Commissioner of Police Garba Jibril (Kubwa) and Superintendent Gambo (Sports Officer).
