First vice-president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Seyi Akinwumi, has disclosed that the federation is not in a hurry to name a new permanent coach for the national team.

Akinwumi stated that the football house has learnt from its mistakes in the past and is determined to land the right man for the job.

He was speaking after the Federation Cup draw in Abuja on Thursday,

When asked how long fans will wait for the substantive coach of the Super Eagles, he replied: “Nigeria should wait till the time we are going to name the substantive coach, I cannot say now and I think the question is meant for the technical committee.

“And we need to understand some things. It is not about getting the coach but getting the best for the country. With a lot of experiences we have had in past with of coaches, we need to go to the root of the problems and take our time, solve the issues and come up with the best.

“Right now, we don’t have any urgency, no qualifier, no competitive games, that is why we are trying to use the time to get the best for the country. We want Nigerians to be patient, I am sure very soon we shall get the best for the country.”
