NFF lines up four friendly matches for Super Eagles in 2017

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), are making plans to ensure the Super Eagles play at least four high-grade friendly matches next year.

Tunde Adelakun, who is a consultant to the federation, told CompleteSports, that he has contacted some countries about the friendlies.

The idea of the games, is to keep the players in shape, before the 2018 World Cup qualifiers resume in August 2017.

“It is painful that the Super Eagles will not be featuring at the Africa Cup of Nations but that does not mean that they will be idle during the period of AFCON in January/February 2017,” Adelakun said.

“The Eagles will be busy before our next World Cup game in August because we shall exploit the IFA windows in March and June.

“We are talking to some European and African countries to give us friendly games in March and June and I can assure you that we shall organize some top quality friendly matches for Super Eagles. The idea is to play about four friendly matches during the two FIFA windows before the clash with Cameroon in August.”

Adelakun also said that the plan was for the Eagles to qualify for the World Cup, before their last qualifying game against Algeria in Algiers.

“We surely want to go to Russia but we need prayers and support from Nigerians to achieve that goal,” he added.
