GIwa
President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has claimed that the Chris Giwa-led faction, is trying to derail the country’s 2018 World Cup qualification campaign.
Pinnick also accused Giwa of being a major distraction, as the country failed to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Giwa has been at war with Pinnick for the last two years over the leadership of the federation and tried to force his way into the NFF secretariat last Friday.
“Giwa is a major distraction and their main aim, from A to Z, is to ensure Nigeria do not qualify for the next World Cup after we promised Nigerians we will,” Pinnick said at a press conference in Abuja on Monday.
“It’s a shame”, he stated.
The draw for the qualifying tournament for the World Cup will be held on June 24 in Cairo, Egypt.
The qualifiers begin in October and will run till November 2017.
