The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has cancelled plans to fly out the country’s U-23 team on a chartered flight, ahead of this weekend’s African Championship qualifier in Congo.
President of the federation, Amaju Pinnick, explained why the decision was taken.
“We had plans for a chartered flight, but not in the sense of paying for the plan. For example, if we were to spend $60, 000 to airlift the team normally, we were expecting that our friends in the aviation industry would help us by asking us to pay same amount for the entire team,” the former Delta FA chairman stated.
“You know we are in difficult times when it comes to finances. But we are doing everything possible to ensure that the team arrive early enough in Congo for the game”. .
