New York records first case of Ebola

There is growing apprehension in New York City as the city has recorded its first Ebola case since it was exported to the United States by a Liberian national.

A doctor, Craig Spencer, who served with the French medical charity, Doctors without Borders in Guinea, tested positive of Ebola yesterday and has been admitted to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, New York.

According to Mail online, Dr Spencer returned to the US from Guinea through Brussels, Belgium on the 17th of October and was active in the city for seven days before he reported to the department of health that he had 103 f temperature, fever, diarrhea and nausea.

According to Mail online, Dr. Spencers’ fiancée, Morgan Dixon with whom she shares the same apartment has been quarantined in the same hospital. Two of her friends are also said to be in self quarantine at home.

The report says the doctor spent seven days riding the subway, bowling and travelling in Uber taxis fuelling fears that others might have contacted the virus through him. “Disease detectives” are reported to be out tracing the patients’ contacts in order to identify anyone who may be at risk

President Barrack Obama has offered federal support to New York as it responds to its first Ebola case.
