Mr. Dele Alao, a journalist and senior staff of the New Telegraph, is dead.
Late Alao, 43, had earlier worked with Newswatch.
A text message from his wife to our correspondent Monday morning confirmed his passing away.
It reads: “This is to officially announce the untimely death of my beloved husband, prophet and companion who passed away on 23-7-2015. Mr Dele Alao is a staff of New Telegraph Newspaper. Signed by: Mrs Gloria Chinasaokwu Alao-wife, Mercy Ihuoma Alao-Daughter and the entire Alao family of Ayetoro in Ido-Osi LGA of Ekiti State.”
When our correspondent contacted his wife, the widow, who spoke soberly, disclosed that her husband died of “typhoid malaria”.
She said: “My husband is gone at just 43. I still cannot explain how such illness easily cured took him away but God knows best.
“My husband was born on February 5, 1973 and we have a daughter.”
On burial arrangement, Mrs Alao said plans would be announced by the enlarged family.
“I am expecting his family later today. They will give details of the burial and I will inform you”.
