New Inter Milan manager, Antonio Conte, has insisted that the club have not met Romelu Lukaku, but refused to rule out a potential move for the striker or his Manchester United team-mate, Alexis Sanchez.
United are reportedly open to selling Lukaku for £80 million this summer.
Also, Sanchez is keen on leaving Old Trafford this summer and his agent Fernando Felicevich has already travelled to Italy this month, to hold talks with Juventus and Inter over a potential deal.
Conte was officially appointed as Inter’s new manager on Friday, and when asked if Lukaku would join the Serie A side, he told the BBC World Service: “I think now it’s very difficult to talk about this.
“For sure, we have a plan to try to improve the team.
“But it will be very important for the players, it will be very important to have a great will and great ambition, me, the players and the club, to try to reduce this gap.”
Asked if Lukaku has met with Inter, Conte replied: “No, that’s not right.
“But I repeat in this moment there is a sporting director to talk about this and do this question about the transfer market, about the players. But I repeat, now we are very focused to do the first step and to work together.”
When quizzed about Sanchez, Conte laughed and said: “Yeah, but you’re talking about the transfer market, you have to talk to the sporting director about this topic.”
