NEMA DG condoles Shettima over series of fresh bomb blasts in Borno

The Director General of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Alhaji Sani Sidi on Friday, condoled with Governor Kashim Shettima, government and the people of Borno over the increasing cases of suicide bombings in some parts of Maiduguri, which have claimed several of lives.

Between Thursday and Friday, no fewer than 40 people, including suicide bombers were killed in separate attacks on locations in Molai, which is an outskirt of Maiduguri, the state capital.

The NEMA boss, who was in Maiduguri for official launching of relief and rehabilitation materials for victims of insurgency said the office will do everything possible to offer assistance to the victims of insurgency in the north east.

“We are here to officially launch another distribution of relief items to victims of insurgency as well as present building materials for reconstruction of some destroyed communities, especially Bama and other council areas.

“I want to assure your Excellency Governor Kashim Shettima of NEMA’s full support to the Internally Displaced Persons, (IDPs) towards rebuilding their destroyed communities to enable them return home”, the NEMA DG said.

Responding, Governor Shettima thanked NEMA and the federal government for their support to the plight of the victims of insurgency, particularly the over 1.5 million IDPs taking refuge at various camps in the state.

He, however, called on other humanitarian agencies and the international donor agencies to assist in the ongoing rehabilitation of destroyed communities in Borno and the north east in general.

Governor Shettima and the NEMA DG after the programme also went round some of the scenes of the explosions in Molai and some parts of Maiduguri metropolis, where they sympathized with the victims over the unfortunate incidents.
