The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has accused Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs of selling relief materials given to them on humanitarian grounds.

NEMA said the agency had on many occasions been accused by people when such relief materials were seen in the market.

The Adamawa State Camp Coordinator of NEMA, Sa’ad Bello, made this disclosure in Yola, the state capital on Friday before newsmen while delivering relief materials to the IDPs.

Bello said the advice became necessary as some beneficiaries of relief materials sold the items.

He advised IDPs in the state not to sell relief materials donated to them by the agency and other donor organizations.

Bello reinstated that NEMA would continue to assist IDPs and victims of disasters in the state, urging the people to always be on security alert to avert and minimise disasters.

The Coordinator said, “Not for sale is boldly written on the materials. I want to appeal to the public to report any person seen selling the materials,” he stated.
