The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, said the agency had received a distressed call of eminent flood in Sarkin Noma, Ganaja in Lokoja LGA and Igala mela LGA of Kogi State, among others.
A statement from Sani Datti, Head, Media and Public Relations on Thursday, said following the alert, the Agency had immediately established contact with the State Commissioner for Environment, State Emergency Management Agency and other relevant stakeholders.
According to the statement, a team also from the agency are due to arrive the state for appropriate action to the affected persons and communities.
” NEMA strongly advises the communities living around the flood plains to immediately relocate to higher grounds for safety to avoid the danger of the eminent flood in their communities,” The statement added.
