Neighbour stabs pregnant woman to death over N1,000

A six-month old pregnant woman identified only as Mrs. Ikhuoria has been allegedly stabbed to death by her neighbour over N1, 000 loan at Iyamu Street, off Textile Mill Road, Benin City, Edo State.

The expectant mother, according to the Nation, had loaned her neighbour, Mama Emmanuel a thousand naira.

Trouble ensued when Ikhuoria demanded to be paid back the said amount.

According to the owner of the house, Mrs. M. Okpojie, where the victim and suspect resided, she only heard a noise while she was working at the back of the house.

The state police spokesman, Osifo Abiodun, when contacted for confirmation, said he was yet to be briefed on the matter, however, Okpojie affirmed she found the deceased bleeding and rushed her to an unidentified private hospital where doctors referred her to another hospital.

She said, “I was working at the back of the house when I heard noise. I rushed the victim to a private hospital when I saw the way she was bleeding.

“Doctor said it was an internal bleeding and I should take her away so I called the husband to come,” she noted.

Husband of the victim, Ediale Ikhuoria, said, “My wife borrowed the attacker N1,000 and when she demanded for the money, Mama Emmanuel stabbed her. She killed my wife. My wife was six months pregnant. She died on Monday morning,” Ediale said.
