NDLEA promotes 1,311 staff

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has promoted a total of 1,311 staff.

This is made up 1,291 staff within the rank and file and 20 others converted to officer cadre.

The promotion exercise followed the completion of the process set in motion by the Chairman, Col. Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah (rtd.) to address the lingering backlog of promotion.

Jonah Achema, Principal Staff Officer, NDLEA Public Affairs department, in a statement on Friday, said the conversion is also consistent with with the Federal Government Circular referenced HCSF/EPO/EIR/CND/100/98 of September 2016 which equates HND with degrees and as well as any other additional qualifications.

Abdallah explained that the exercise is expected to spur the benefitting staff to put in their best in the service of the Agency and the nation.

He noted that the exercise was in phases and that by the time the Agency is through, it would have succeeded in normalizing the structural disjointedness of the workforce.

“The issues of promotion and other welfare matters have built up over the years and were only inherited by the present leadership of the Agency. Management has been meticulous in resolving them once and for all”, Achema quoted Abdallah as saying.

The statement agreed that underfunding and inadequate manpower were some challenges facing the agency, adding that tireless efforts were being made to improve the situation.
