NDLEA intercept 868kg of Tramadol, re-arrests notorious dealer ‘Zuma’

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested two men carrying 31 cartons (over 17 50kg bags) of Tramadol.

They were nabbed while conveying the drugs in a J5 with number QAP 316 XB at Kwande Villlage of Shendam Local Government, Plateau state.

One of the suspects, Mas’udu Isyaka, said the drugs were being conveyed from Onitsha.

He said he and his colleague were to go to Gombe but operatives nabbed them in Plataeu.

“I thought it was drugs that we used to deliver across the country. I don’t know such drugs were against the law,” he said.

Plateau State NDLEA commander, Ibrahim Braji, who paraded them, also handed over counterfeit and expired drugs of about 5, 580kg seized from a suspect named Jude Okoye Okeke, aka Zuma to National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

He said, “Today we are handing over of the expired drugs seized from Zuma to NAFDAC who are responsible for prosecution of those that had to do with licit drugs, because the licit drugs are outside the jurisdiction of NDLEA.

“NDLEA is only responsible for illicit drugs such as cocaine, heroin, marijuana and psychotropic substances.”

NDLEA, last week, arrested Zuma for the fourth time.

The suspect had been arrested three times before but was either fined or released on bail.

Zuma was granted bail on health grounds after his third arrest last year.
