Igbo community in Germany has decried the recent invasion of South Eastern Nigeria by military men.

Speaking under the aegis of Igbo indigenes living in Germany, the group said that the occupation of the Igbo region by the Nigerian army in whatever guise was undemocratic, unconstitutional and against the fundamental human rights of the citizens.

In a press release signed by the coordinator, Peter Chukwuma Eze, the group noted with grave concern the invasion of the Igbo territory of South-Eastern Nigeria by fully armed military men.

It said that Ndigbo abroad have taken cognizance of the provocation, intimidation, brutalization and killings of the civilian population of largely Igbo extraction by the fully armed military of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the South-Eastern part of the country.

The association, therefore, demanded that the Federal Government explains the exact nature and reason behind the ongoing military occupation of the South east tagged ‘Python Dance11’ insisting that the government of the federation should make its position clear and not sit on the fence.

The group, however, called for an investigation by the International Criminal Court of Justice into what it termed dictatorial and undemocratic use of the military against Ndigbo and other Nigerians.

They also demanded that all relevant organs in the international community play their part in preventing a chain of events that could eventually lead to widespread breakdown of peace in the entire West African sub-region which it reasoned may cause untold deaths, displacements and suffering all over Nigeria and may trigger the largest scale of refugee crisis in the region.
