NCC awards 2.6GHz Spectrum to MTN

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has announced that MTN Nigeria has been awarded license to its 2.6GHz Spectrum auction.

In a statement by its Executive Vice Chairman, Prof Umar Danbatta, the commission said MTN Nigeria was awarded after emerging as the sole bidder.

The statement reads in part, “ In addition and in line with the provisions of the Information Memorandum, IM, guiding the Auction process, MTN Communications Nigeria LTD have fully paid the specific fees for six slots of 2×30 MHz in the 2.6GHz Spectrum Band.

“Consequently, the Commission has awarded the licence to MTN Nigeria Communications Ltd.”
