NBA urges Adamawa Government to redeem commitment to judicial workers

The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has urged the Adamawa Government to redeem its promise to settle judicial workers demands by complying with the agreement reached between the two parties.

The judicial workers, under the aegis of Judiciary Workers Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), in the state suspended their six months strike on Tuesday following the agreement entered with the state government.

Reacting to the development, the NBA Chairman in the state, Mr Abubakar Babakano, advised the government to resolve the crisis in order to avoid truncating justice delivery.

Babakano told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola that the suspension of the strike was welcome development and everything possible needed to be done by the parties concern to avoid reoccurrence.

“I want to urge government to deliver on its commitment to judicial staff so that we don’t go back to another strike,” he said.

The chairman noted that the six months industrial action had adversely affected the bar whose members have been idle for months.

“It has adversely affected our members; the court is our major source of revenue and because of the strike many cannot practice,” Babakano said.

He said that with the resumption, members needed to work extra hard to meet up with pending cases. (NAN)
