The Badagry Branch Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Chief Chris Okoye says the Federal Government has been overwhelmed by the gun power of the insurgents for two years, noting that it has failed to proffer a feasible solution that will resolve the impasse.
Okoye spoke at the 2014 Law week of the Badagry branch of the NBA at the Rockview Hotel, Festac Town Lagos, with the theme: ‘Terrorism: Threat to Human Rights – The Nigerian experience’ where he requested government to realize that lives and property are always lost whenever terrorists strike.
His words, “Government should also realize that lives and properties are always lost whenever the terrorists strike and should handle the matter with high sense of responsibility. It should divorce politics from the sensitive issue and take the right and courageous action in the interest of the generality.”
The NBA boss argued that the employment of military force in the suppression of the insurgency has not yielded the desired result and is needed for a change of tactics and approach.
