Navy parades suspected kidnappers of Governor Dickson’s younger sister in Warri

The Nigerian Navy, today, paraded suspected members of the a kidnap syndicate responsible for the alleged abduction of the younger sister of the Bayelsa State Governor, Nancy Dickson late last year.

Nancy, 26, who had since be freed was kidnapped at her shop, located in Okaka Road, Yenagoa, the state capital, last December by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers who trailed her in an ash colour Lexus SUV.

Parading the suspects before newsmen in Warri, Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta, Commodore Joseph Dzunve also announced the arrest of nine crude oil thieves along the creeks of Delta State.

Besides the suspects, six cotonou boats laden with suspected stolen crude oil used by suspects in ferrying product to various illegal their victims as kidnappers. They were arrested at different times and different locations but there is none of them here that have been with us more than 48 hours. Some of them were just brought in as you were coming in.

It will be difficult for me to know if any of them is a member of the Niger Delta Avengers. We did not arrest purely on the basis of the intelligence that they were suspected to be members of NDA. But like I said before now, they move from one crime type to another. So if they have the local technology to manufacture those kinds of weapons, it is also possible they can also used to blow pipes.

”It will be difficult to give exact quantity because they come in different sizes but I can tell you that some cotonuo boats have the capacity to carry as much as five or more truck loads of crude.”
