Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has applauded the Nigeria police for their handling of yesterday’s anti-government protests in Abuja and some other cities in the country.

Hundreds of Nigerians took to the streets yesterday to protest and seek a timely solution to biting economic hardship in the country.

Osinbajo, had earlier said on Monday that the government heard the cry of Nigerians “loud and clear.”

In a statement on Tuesday by his Spokesperson, Laolu Akande, the Acting President commended the police while maintaining that the government will “continuously engage” the people to explain government policies, receive advice and criticism.

He added, “I commend the IGP and his officers for handling the protests with professionalism and respect for the rights of citizens.

“We are committed to a continuous engagement with our people to explain government policies, receive advice and criticism.”

According to him, ministers had gone round 8 States so far holding town hall meetings.

He said, “With complete focus on improving the economy every day, the recession will soon be history.”
