The National Sports Commission (NSC), has urged the Super Falcons to go all out in their final Group D game against USA on Tuesday.
Edwin Okon’s ladies need to win, to ensure they qualify for the quarter-finals, after drawing 3-3 with Sweden and losing 2-0 to Australia in their first two matches.
Speaking at the team’s hotel, Director of Federations & Elite Athletes Department (FEAD) at NSC, Mrs Hauwa Kulu-Akinyemi said: “On behalf of the National Sports Commission and the Director-General, I came here to say we are happy with you; we are praying with you. We are Nigerians and we don’t give up and it is not over until it is over. I want to advise that you girls be focused, believe in yourselves, be confident and don’t under-rate or over-rate your opponents. Play as a team and just do it!
“I am here this evening to tell you that it is not over and to encourage you to first of all motivate yourselves and to know that we are behind you in prayers. If you are destined to do something, even if you are not doing it right, somehow God will correct those mistakes and it will turned in your favor.
“We believe in you ladies and I believe that come Tuesday, June 16, something wonderful will happen. God sees the desires of your heart and those desires will be met in this trip”.
