The family members of some kidnap victims in Nasarawa State have called on security agencies and the government to come to the aid of the victims and secure their release.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the appeal was made the in an interview on Tuesday in Lafia.
DAILY POST had reported that gunmen had on Tuesday attacked the convoy of Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, killing three policemen and a civilian.
Investigations by NAN revealed that over five persons were kidnapped by the same criminal gang that attacked the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor.
The family members, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that the kidnappers have already contacted them, demanding N50 million ransom each.
They also said that the kidnappers warned that they should not inform or involve the police if they wanted the victims to regain freedom.
They, therefore, appealed to the government to take action towards securing the release of the victims as they had already spent seven days in the hands of the kidnappers.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Bola Longe, while reacting to the matter, said that they were aware of only one case of kidnapping.
He said “Only one family reported to the police that their family member was kidnapped, so that is the only case we are aware of.”
Longe gave them the assurance that the attackers would be arrested and brought to face the law for their crime.
