NASS siege: Fani-Kayode speaks on Saraki, ex-DSS DG, Daura collaborating to frustrate Buhari

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation minister, on Wednesday reacted to the claim that the sacked Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Lawal Daura and Senate President Bukola Saraki plotted yesterday’s siege to the National Assembly to undermine President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Recall that operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, had yesterday cordoned-off the National Assembly.

Despite the action of the secret police, some lawmakers, however, forced their way into the National Assembly complex in an attempt to scuttle alleged moves to impeach Saraki.

However, the All Progressives Congress, APC, claimed that Saraki has a hand in the incident.

Reacting to the assertions, Fani-Kayode said only an “undiscerning and inexperience fool” will believe the claim.

In a statement, the former minister said, “If you honestly believe that President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo did not have a hand in the attempted coup that took place yesterday at the National Assembly then you need a lesson in what the British call “real politik”.

“When the whole thing backfired they made Lawal Daura, the DG of the DSS, the expendable fall guy. They made him carry the can alone and they sacked him.

“Meanwhile this morning the government’s foot soldiers and media handlers have put out two narratives about yesterday’s sordid events.”
