Senator Shehu Sani (APC/Kaduna Central), has described the siege on the National Assembly, as an “affront on democracy and an assault on freedom”.
The siege, by officials of the Department of State Security (DSS), lasted several hours until the Director-General of the SSS, Lawal Daura, was sacked by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.
In his reaction, Senator Sani said: “Security apparatus must limit their role and responsibilities within the ambit of democracy.”
Matthew Seiyefa, the most senior Director in the Department of State Service (DSS), has since been confirmed as the Acting Director General of the agency.
The information was announced via the official Twitter account of the Presidency.
