NASS crisis: Hon. Babatunde calls for compromise

As leadership crisis rocking National Assembly persists, the member representing Akoko South and West federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde has called for compromise among the warring groups in the interest of the nation.

He made this call while speaking with journalists in his office at the National Assembly in Abuja.

According to him, the shifting of resumption date from 21st to 28th of July to enable the ruling party resolve it’s differences, particularly that of leadership tussle, was already creating negative impression as if it was all about selfish reasons against the interest of Nigerians that voted APC into power.

“I think what should be done as members which has been my guiding principle here is that the interest of Nigerians should be paramount and it should supersedes personal interest, as such there should be a compromise so that the Assembly can move forward “, Kolawole said.

According to him, the Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Dogara has shifted grounds following interventions by Hon. Aminu Tambuwal led committee that the group of Hon. Femi Gbajamiabila should produce the House leader.

“They have been talking, what remains now is the shifting of grounds which the Speaker has agreed that Gbajamiabila group should produce the House leader, but the thorny issue was that Femi want to become the leader which the Speaker’s group insisted it against federal character “, he said.

He warned that Nigerians were already watching the turn of events against their expectation much as time was running out. He added that tax payers money is involves and the future of Nigeria itself.

He commended President Buhari for taking steps in repositioning the nation for greatness, one of which was his visit to the United States. He urged him not to be distracted by political enemies who would stop at nothing to distract.
